Number two of a series of six crosses. Design chosen by Pastor Rod and made by Sandy August.
Patee is a French word meaning cross patty or footed cross. It was used by the Crusaders during Medieval times in Germany and is often found in the crows of Christian countries such as Great Britain.
Number five of a series of six crosses chosen by Pastor Rod and made by Sandy August.
In the fifteenth century they represented the eight lands of the Knights of Hospitaller. (This area later became known as the Maltese.) It was used to protect a courageous band of crusaders known as Knights of St. John who fought the Saracens for possession of the Holy Land. Today fire fighters use it as a symbol of protection.
Last of the series of six banners that Pastor Rod designed, and Sandy August made that adorn the side wall of the Sanctuary during Lent.
This cross is also known as the Crucifixion Cross. It has four points representing the three nails and the spear that pierced Christ during the crucifixion.
