Depicts the story of the road to Emmaus after Jesus’ resurrection. Origin Dinan, France. This is a painted canvas. It inspired Sanday August to create a banner after she saw it hanging over an altar in France. Sandy took a photograph and copied it.
There are other interpretations for this work.
Red Reformation/Confirmation/Pentecost. Sandy August made this banner in 1997 when her daughter was confirmed on Reformation Sunday. (Sandy was working on the hand sewing on this when she was sitting with her dad in the hospital in Illinois when he was quite ill. Sandy’s dad died just a few months later.)
